Lightweight mirrorless camera finder

If your hands are less steady than they used to be, in-body stabilization does more for your photographs than almost any other feature. It is also the spec buyer guides bury. This filters 18 current bodies by their published CIPA stabilization rating, weight, and viewfinder size.

How to read these numbers

Stabilization stops
The CIPA rating. CIPA is an industry test standard, so the figures are broadly comparable between bodies. Each stop roughly doubles the shutter speed you can hand-hold. Going from 5 stops to 8 stops is the difference between needing about 1/30s and getting usable frames at around 1/4s at the same focal length. Manufacturers test with a lens of their choosing, so treat the number as a ranking rather than a promise.
Viewfinder magnification, 35mm equivalent
Native magnification figures are only comparable within one sensor format. A Micro Four Thirds body quoting 1.65x does not have a viewfinder twice the size of a full-frame body quoting 0.8x. This table divides the native figure by the format's crop factor so the column compares like with like. The native figure is shown in brackets.
Weight
Body only, including battery and card, as the manufacturer lists it. A lens adds 150 g to 800 g or more. Heavier bodies damp small movements, lighter bodies are easier to hold up for longer. Neither is simply better.
Launch price
MSRP at announcement, body only, in USD. It is not a current street price, and older bodies here are usually cheaper now. Bodies with no published MSRP show a dash and are excluded when you set a price ceiling.
